Grace cultivation method
Sowing pods
Sow directly in the open ground from the beginning of March to May. Sow in rows with a total distance of 50 cm and place the seeds in the row 5 cm apart. Make sure that the soil remains sufficiently moist during growth.
For all capuchins, peas and pods achieve that an early cultivation (March/April) yields better results. With a later cultivation from May, this can be emphasized by fewer pods and problems with mildew.
In connection with mice and birds, sow sufficiently deep: 3-4 cm. Protect the pods from bird damage!
Harvesting pods
Harvest the pods from June to July. Pick the pods as young as possible while they are still juicy. Pick regularly, if picked later the peas will taste mealy.
Peanuts are suitable for freezing.
Crop rotation
It is also wise to apply crop rotation to peanuts. Plant peanuts in the same place only once every 6 years to keep the chance of infection by fungal diseases as small as possible.
