Sowing : Pre-sow indoors from March-April in a greenhouse or in a seed tray, or in the garden from May onwards. Sow in damp soil in rows or rows 25cm apart.
Peppermint grows in both sun and partial shade. The plants are very sensitive to drought, so don't let the ground near the peppermint plants dry out.
Harvesting : harvest the leaves and young tops from June.
March-April in a propagator or April-June in a seedbed outdoors; prick out once and plant out later. Fresh leaves can be used for soup, stews and mint-sauce; dried leaves for a mint tea.
