Melons are best grown in a flat tray or plastic tunnel. Provide sufficient water and top the melon plant regularly.

Sowing: From March, indoors in flower pots, From April to mid-May put in a container or tunnel. The plants are growing vigorously. Remove all side branches from the first 80cm main stem. Do this when the side branches are about 10 cm long. Top the remaining side branches on the first leaf. Do this also with new laterals that grow regularly under the axils of the topped laterals. Let the upper side vines grow to 1.25 meters, then top these too. The flowers must be pollinated by insects, otherwise you will not get fruit. So the bin or tunnel must be open in good weather.
