Janosik Watermelon Seeds

Add variety to your vegetable garden with Janosik Watermelon Seeds. This unique watermelon variety produces medium-sized, round fruits with light green skin and striking yellow flesh. The Janosik is renowned for its sweet, juicy flavor and is a true treat on warm summer days.

  • Unique yellow flesh: A striking and flavorful variation of the traditional watermelon.
  • Sweet and juicy: Perfect for refreshing summer snacks.
  • Easy cultivation: Suitable for both greenhouse and outdoor growing.
  • Quick harvest: Ready to pick within 85-95 days.
  • Medium-sized fruits: Convenient size for various uses.

Cultivation Method

Sowing: Sow the watermelon seeds indoors from late February to May at a constant temperature of at least 20°C. Use individual pots about 7 cm in diameter and plant one seed per pot, about 1 cm deep. Keep the soil moist but avoid overwatering to prevent rotting. Once the first true leaves appear, transplant the seedlings into larger pots about 13 cm in diameter.

After the last frost, usually around mid-May, gradually acclimate the young plants to outdoor temperatures before planting them in the ground. Choose a sunny, warm, and sheltered location with well-draining soil. For optimal results, greenhouse cultivation is recommended. Water the plants regularly and feed them with liquid fertilizer every 14 days.

Watermelons develop fruit on the side shoots. Pinch the main shoot after the fourth leaf to encourage the growth of side shoots. Train these side shoots along the ground or trellises to provide sufficient space. In greenhouse conditions, manual pollination may be necessary.

Harvesting: After approximately 85 to 95 days, the fruits will be ripe. Check ripeness by tapping the fruit; a hollow sound indicates that it is ready for harvest.
