Preferably do not sow winter giant leek next to onions and garlic.

Sowing: Sow the winter leek seeds in the open ground on a seedbed from the end of March to mid-May. Plant out in June when the plants are the thickness of a pencil. Preferably plant the leek as deep as possible, so that they just stick out above the ground. Leek plants also need a lot of water. Planting distance is then 35x15cm.
