How do you plant garlic?

The secret to a good garlic harvest starts in the fall. Plant 'Messidrome' in a sunny, well-drained soil, preferably rich in humus and well loosened. The cloves should be planted about 3 to 4 cm deep, with a distance of 10 to 15 cm between each other, and 25 to 30 cm between the rows. This gives the winter garlic the space to grow into beautiful, firm bulbs. Choose a sunny and not too wet location for the garlic.

Harvesting and storing garlic

In July, pull the whole winter garlic out of the ground with the foliage. Rinse the winter garlic and let it dry for about 4 weeks. Tie and / or twist the garlic tops together and dry the garlic hanging. After 4 weeks, the leaves and roots can be removed and the garlic can be stored in a cool and dark place.
