Method of cultivation / sowing climbing garden peas

Sowing

Sow Alexandra peas directly in the garden from February to May. It is also possible to pre-sow indoors and then transplant out later.

Sow the peas in rows from North to South with a row distance of 100cm and 10cm apart. Provide adequate support by means of mesh or brushwood.

Make sure the soil remains sufficiently moist during growth and do not use fresh farmyard manure.

Harvests

Alexandra peas can be harvested from June to the end of July.

Pick the pods while the peas are still juicy. If you pick it too late, the peas will have a mealy taste. Regular picking is therefore advisable.

Crop cultivation

It is wise to also use crop rotation with peas. Only put peas in the same spot once every 6 years to minimize the risk of fungal infections.
