Patisson Colour Mix – Colourful Mini Courgettes
Add colour and flavour to your vegetable garden with this Patisson Colour Mix! This unique mix contains a variety of flat and round patissons in yellow, orange, green, and white shades. Patisson belongs to the courgette family and, when harvested young, is perfect for stuffing, baking, or grilling.
Patisson seeds are large, oval, and therefore easy to sow.
Sow patisson seeds indoors from mid-April or directly outdoors in open ground from late April to late June.
Courgette seedlings can be tricky to transplant due to their roots, so it's best to sow each seed in a separate pot. Place the seeds on their side about 2 cm deep into the sowing soil. Sowing them on their side helps them germinate more easily and reduces the risk of rotting.
From mid-May (after the last frost), the courgette plants can be planted outdoors in a warm and sunny spot. For optimal pollination, plant several courgette plants together. Keep a planting distance of 100 x 100 cm, as the plants can grow quite large.
You can start harvesting your first courgettes from mid-July. Courgettes grow quickly under the right conditions, so during good weather check regularly for new fruits.
Pick courgettes when they are still young for the best flavour—usually when they are about 15 cm long. Regular early harvesting also encourages new fruit formation, giving you a longer and more productive harvest season.
