How do you grow Pumpkins?

You can sow the pumpkin seeds outside in June, provided it is warm enough to ensure a smooth germination. Sow 2 seeds per sowing spot, 3 to 4 cm deep. Leave one plant after emergence. Mice can also throw a spanner in the works outside. You can take preventive action by placing a flower pot upside down on the sowing spot immediately after sowing.

Remove the pots after a week! Pumpkins can tend to grow considerably, so regularly replace the tendrils on the outside of the field. Pumpkins can be harvested from mid-September; bring the pumpkins inside at least before cold nights to prevent night frost damage. Harvest only sufficiently ripe fruit; the fruit stems should be discolored and somewhat wrinkly/corky. Store in a dry place at not too low temperatures.
