Cuphea ignea, a shrub native to Mexico, is often kept as a houseplant. The Cigar Flower plant owes its name to its red tubular flowers. Although the flowers of the Cuphea are small, in large quantities they more than make up for the quantity.

Sowing:

Houseplant Cuphea can be grown indoors from January to April at approx. 20 C in a seed tray. Keep the soil moist by spraying water with a plant sprayer and make sure the soil does not dry out. Once the height of the plants is 8-10 cm, you should transplant them into flower pots. At the end of May you can also place them outside in a sunny, sheltered spot.
