Before use, make the vermiculite moist and not soaking wet. The easiest way is to immerse a sieve with vermiculite in a bowl of water and let it drain well.
Place a few centimeters of moist vermiculite in the seed tray and press the seeds into the vermiculite and place the lid on the seed tray or cover it with plastic.
You can also make your own potting soil mix, mix 1 part vermiculite with 3 parts potting soil. This keeps your sowing soil lighter and more airy, the vermiculite also keeps the nutrients and water available for your plants for longer.
