Do you want to grow an impressive pumpkin? Pumpkin Rouge vif d' Etampes is a classic with a deep red-orange colour and a wide, flat shape. The long, lush vines grow up to 10 metres and ensure a rich harvest. Thanks to its sturdy skin, this pumpkin has a long shelf life, perfect for autumn dishes and as decoration.

Sowing: Sow in pots under glass in April-May or directly in the open ground from mid-May. Give the plants enough space (100 x 100 cm per plant) and guide the tendrils alternately to the left and right for optimal growth. Pumpkins thrive in nutritious soil and like sufficient moisture.

Harvesting: Harvest pumpkins from September to October, at least before the first night frost. A pumpkin is ripe when the stems start to dry out and show small wrinkles/cracks. The pumpkin has not been growing for some time and has also become somewhat duller. Normally the colour will also become more intense. Leave approximately 5 to 8 cm of stem on the pumpkin when harvesting. Harvest in dry conditions and try not to bruise or damage the pumpkins. Store in a dry, frost-free place, do not stack the pumpkins on top of each other.
