Hollyhock Chater’s Double Pink (Alcea rosea) is a true showpiece in any garden. This tall biennial summer bloomer produces large, lush, filled flowers in a soft, romantic pink shade. Perfect for adding height and color along walls, fences or in the back row of a border. The plant can grow up to 2 metres high and is therefore a real eye-catcher!
Sowing: Sow the hollyhock seeds from May to July in a greenhouse, or sow them directly in the open ground or in pots. Direct sowing is possible from May to the end of July. Transplanting is possible from late summer. Cover in the autumn with light winter protection, such as a layer of mulch (for example tree bark, compost or straw). They prefer a place that is protected from the wind, such as near walls or house walls.
Flowering period: Hollyhocks bloom from July to September. Remove faded flowers regularly to prolong the bloom. Leave a few flowers so that they can self-seed.
