Description

Helda is a widely used string bean variety. The rich-bearing crop forms long, flat, broad pods that are cordless. This variety is used by professional horticulturists for early and late greenhouse cultivation as well as for all open ground cultivation.

Helda runner beans are resistant to the scroll mosaic virus and the black bug disease.

Sowing: String beans are grown against climbing sticks that are usually crossed in rows, preferably in a north-south direction. Place the sticks in rows 150 cm apart, keeping 50 cm between the sticks in the row. Place 3-4 beans about 3cm deep around each stick. Do this in the open ground between mid-May and mid-July. Beans need adequate heat and moderately moist soil. They germinate poorly in wet and cold weather. Do not use fresh farmyard manure.

Harvest: Depending on the sowing time, you can harvest string beans from the end of July to September.
