Determine pH value
Make sure that the pen is clean and that the bottom is sufficiently moist. Push the pin into the moist soil to about 12cm deep and wait 60 seconds for an accurate reading. Take the average of 2-3 measurements in different places.
Instrument pH Values:
3-7 - acidic soil.
7 is pH neutral.
7-10 alkaline/basic soil.
To make the soil more alkaline, add about 300 grams of lime per square meter of soil for every 1 pH change. To make the soil more acidic, you can add peat or conifer shreds.
Clean and dry the pen thoroughly after use.
