Agapanthus plants are excellent for growing in the garden or in pots as container plants. Since African Lilies are not fully hardy, cover the Agapanthus in winter with straw or other heat-absorbing material. If you grow the African lilies in pots, you can place them in a greenhouse or other cool frost-free environment in winter. Do not water too much in winter.

The Agapanthus originally comes from South Africa. The name Agapanthus comes from the Greek words 'Agape' and 'Anthos' which means Love and Flower. That is why the African Lily or Agapanthus is also called the love flower.
