Cultivation method Gray Red Flowering Pod

Sowing pods

Sow directly in the open ground from early March to mid-May. Sow in lines or rows with a spacing of 140 cm and space the seeds 5 cm in the row. Make sure that the soil remains sufficiently moist during growth.

For all capuchins, peas and pods, an early cultivation (March/April) yields better results. With a later cultivation from May, this can cause fewer pods and problems with mildew.

Sow sufficiently deep for mice and birds: 3-4 cm. Protect the plants against bird eating by means of a net.

Harvest pods

Harvest the pods from June to July. Pick the pods as young as possible while they are still juicy. Pick regularly, the peas will taste mealy when you pick later.

Pods are suitable for freezing.

Interchangeable cultivation

It is wise to also use crop rotation for pods. Only place pods in the same spot once every 6 years to minimize the risk of infection by fungal diseases.
