It is a very decorative orange-red pear-shaped pumpkin.

The Uchiki Kuri pumpkin is also a great size pumpkin for dishes. Not too big (1.5 kg) and a good yield of 6 to 10 pumpkins per plant. This hokkaido pumpkin is great for making soup. The peel is relatively soft and therefore easy to cut. The pumpkins are also very easy to store.

Orange Sun - Uchiki Kuri pumpkin seeds from the beginning of May to mid-June in the open ground in a seedbed and transplant into fertile soil.

When is a pumpkin ripe?

Harvest pumpkins from September to October, at least before the first frost. A pumpkin is ripe when the stems start to dry out and show small wrinkles / cracks. The pumpkin has stopped growing for some time and has now also become slightly duller. Normally the color will become more intense.

Harvesting Pumpkins

Leave about 5 to 8 cm stems on the pumpkin when harvesting. Harvest in dry conditions and try not to bruise or hurt the pumpkins. Keep in a dry, frost-free place, do not stack the pumpkins on top of each other.
